How much is a Twitch Bit worth?
A Twitch Bit is worth exactly $0.01 (one US cent) to the streamer who receives it. A viewer pays between $0.0123 and $0.014 per Bit depending on bundle size, so 100 Bits cost $1.40 but pay the streamer $1.00.
Bits are Twitch's built-in tipping currency. Viewers buy them once, then spend them by cheering in chat with an animated Cheermote. The moment a cheer lands, the Bits convert to revenue on the streamer's dashboard at a flat rate of one US cent each.
That rate is the same everywhere. A cheer from Brazil, Japan or Poland is worth the same $0.01 per Bit to the creator — only the viewer's purchase price changes with local pricing and tax. Bits revenue is not split 50/50 the way subscriptions are; Twitch takes its cut on the sale side instead, before the Bits ever reach chat.
Bits earned this way are paid out with the rest of a creator's Twitch revenue: monthly, on a NET-15 schedule, once the balance clears the $50 minimum. Anything below the threshold rolls into the next month.

What Bits cost to buy
Twitch sells Bits in six bundles. Bigger bundles are cheaper per Bit, but the streamer's payout never changes — the discount comes out of Twitch's margin.
| Bundle | Viewer price | Cost per Bit | Streamer payout | Twitch margin |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 100 | $1.40 | $0.014 | $1.00 | $0.40 |
| 500 | $7.00 | $0.014 | $5.00 | $2.00 |
| 1,500 | $19.95 | $0.0133 | $15.00 | $4.95 |
| 5,000 | $64.40 | $0.0129 | $50.00 | $14.40 |
| 10,000 | $126.00 | $0.0126 | $100.00 | $26.00 |
| 25,000Best value | $308.00 | $0.0123 | $250.00 | $58.00 |
Buying Bits in the iOS or Android app costs roughly 30% more, because Apple and Google take a store commission.
Local sales tax or VAT is added on top in most countries. The streamer's $0.01 per Bit is unaffected.
How many Bits for a given amount?
Working backwards: the Bits you need to cheer so a streamer receives a specific sum, and what that costs you.
| Target payout | Bits needed | You pay about |
|---|---|---|
| $1.00 | 100 | $1.40 |
| $5.00 | 500 | $7.00 |
| $10.00 | 1,000 | $14.00 |
| $20.00 | 2,000 | $26.95 |
| $50.00 | 5,000 | $64.40 |
| $100.00 | 10,000 | $126.00 |
| $250.00 | 25,000 | $308.00 |
| $500.00 | 50,000 | $616.00 |
| $1,000.00 | 100,000 | $1,232.00 |
$20.00 → 1,400 Bits → $14.00 · the streamer receives
Cheermote tiers
The animation attached to a cheer scales with its size. Tiers are cosmetic — a 10,000-Bit cheer pays the same per Bit as a single one.
| Bits in one cheer | Cheermote | Streamer gets |
|---|---|---|
| 1+ | $0.01 | |
| 100+ | $1.00 | |
| 1,000+ | $10.00 | |
| 5,000+ | $50.00 | |
| 10,000+ | $100.00 |
Bits, subs and donations compared
Per dollar spent, a direct tip through a third-party service usually gives the creator the most, because no platform cut applies. Bits sit in the middle: the viewer pays $1.40 for 100 Bits and the creator keeps $1.00 — about 71%.
A standard Tier 1 subscription costs $5.99 and splits 50/50 by default, so the creator keeps roughly $2.99, or half. Bits therefore return more per dollar than a sub, but subs bring recurring income and perks that a one-off cheer does not.
Cheering also has a visibility advantage. Bits appear in chat with a Cheermote, count toward Hype Trains and leaderboards, and cannot be charged back as easily as a card donation.
Frequently asked questions
How much is 100 Bits on Twitch?
100 Bits pay the streamer $1.00. A viewer buying that smallest bundle pays $1.40 on desktop, plus local tax.
How much is 1,000 Bits worth?
1,000 Bits are worth $10.00 to the streamer. A viewer spends about $12.60–$14.00 for them, depending on the bundle they buy.
Do streamers really get one cent per Bit?
Yes. The $0.01 rate is flat worldwide and does not depend on the viewer's country, the bundle size or the streamer's tier. Twitch takes its margin when the Bits are sold, not when they are cheered.
Why do Bits cost more than they pay out?
The gap is Twitch's revenue on Bits. 100 Bits sell for $1.40 and pay out $1.00, so Twitch keeps $0.40. Larger bundles narrow the gap to about $0.0023 per Bit.
Are Bits cheaper on desktop than in the mobile app?
Yes. In-app purchases on iOS and Android carry roughly a 30% store commission, so the same bundle costs noticeably more there. The streamer's payout is identical either way.
Can Bits be converted back into cash by a viewer?
No. Bits are non-refundable and cannot be sold, transferred or cashed out. Only the streamer receiving a cheer converts them into revenue.
When does a streamer get paid for Bits?
Bits revenue settles at the end of the month and pays out about 15 days later, provided the account balance is at least $50. Smaller balances carry over.
Are the currency rates on this page live?
Yes. Exchange rates refresh hourly from a public FX feed. The $0.01 per Bit payout is fixed by Twitch and does not float with the market.
